There is also boutique accommodation on site; The Guard’s Cottage is self-contained and comfortable with ‘50s inspired decor and has everything one would need for a relaxing stay. The Miner’s Cabin is charming and rustic with a warm, relaxed style and a cosy loft bed.
Paeroa provides a perfect base for riding the Hauraki Rail Trail, exploring the Karangahake Gorge or antique shopping and relaxing.
Firmly set in the history of the area, the building was originally commissioned as the National Bank Gold Refinery in 1914. As such, the massive solid concrete walls, double height stud capped with huge timber beams and Rimu roof structure certainly fitted the grandeur of purpose. A large, light filled space, which manages to be cosy and welcoming; armchairs and a roaring fire in the winter and rustic outdoor tables and ivy covered walls in the summer. Read a book over coffee or browse the huge collection of vinyl and put on a song or two. Talk to our resident expert Mike about your HiFi needs!

The Refinery Guard's Cottage: Private, charming self-contained accommodation set in the grounds of the historic Gold Refinery building. Light filled and comfortable with retro inspired decor - The Guard's Cottage is arguably the best boutique accommodation set in the heart of Paeroa; the 'antiques town' of NZ.
The cottage is private and totally separate from your hosts. Our on-site cafe is open (Wed-Sun).
The cottage is self contained, and includes:
